Pittsville-Hanni Edith Marlene Moskov, 77, of Pittsville, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at her residence. Born in Schwessow, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wilhelm Wendlandt and Hildegard Kaiser Wendlandt.
Hanni grew up in Dievenow and Oldenburg, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1958. She married George Moskov in 1960. She was a typist and stenographer in her early years and later a media specialist at the German Embassy in Washington DC. In 1976, she and her husband bought a poultry farm in Pittsville where she settled happily into her role as a farmer's wife and loving mother. She volunteered many hours at her children's school. She was an avid gardener all her life and grew a bountiful garden each year full of strawberries, tomatoes, and numerous vegetables. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her for her special pancakes and strawberry smoothies.
She is survived by 3 children, Michael George Moskov (Lisa) of Pittsville, Linda Diane Arnold (Carroll) of Crofton and Robert Daniel Moskov (Michelle) of Columbia; 8 grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Connor, Andrew, Lauren, Ashley, Isabel and Charlie; 4 sisters, Eveline Kay (Hans), Brigitte Kruse, Gudrun Kropp (Johnny) and Anita Buesing (Frank), all of Germany; and 3 cousins, Heinz Wendlandt (Carsta) of Quantico, Irmgard Tawes (Vernon) of Princess Anne and Hans Wendlandt (Bonnie) of Walston Switch.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Moskov in 2009.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pittsville Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Wackett will officiate.
