Sherrell James Wiese

Salisbury-Sherrell James (Jim) Wiese, age 83, passed away on May 25, 2014, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, MD.

He was the son of Leo Joseph and Thenie Loree Wilson Wiese. Born in Flint, Michigan on July 15, 1930, he grew up in Montague County, Texas with his late brother and sister, Leo Joseph Jr. and Lina Anne. Jim was a veteran of World War II and a commissioned Army officer who served in the Korean War. He used the G.I Bill to attend Southern Methodist University. He graduated from SMU School of Law in 1959. He left Texas to take a job at the Dept. of Transportation in Washington, DC, where he raised three children and was instrumental in drafting legislation for the Interstate Highway System. Jim was an avid bridge player and became a Gold Life Master. He and his wife Ginny loved traveling and visited many countries.

Jim was preceded in death by his son James Bailey Jackson Wiese. He is survived by his loving wife Ginny Wiese of Salisbury, MD; his son Carl Joseph Wiese of Indianapolis, IN; his daughter Marguerite Jo Wiese, son-in-law Jesús Salinas, and grandson James Leonardo Salinas of Fairfax, VA; his step-daughter Elizabeth Mitchell Jester, step-grandson Alexander Jester and partner Constance Hill, and step-great-grandson Alexander Michael Jester of Salisbury, MD.

Any donations in his memory may be made to Coastal Hospice at P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
