Norman C. Boos

Laurel-Norman C. Boos, 85, of Laurel, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Carl and Norma (Beck) Boos.

Norman proudly served his country in the US Navy Reserves for 12 years when he was younger. He was a very talented woodworker and with his two brothers owned and operated Boos Custom Woodworking for many years, building beautiful fine custom furniture. He used his God-given woodworking talents to make over 5,000 wooden crosses. He enjoyed sharing the crosses with hospital and nursing home patients, soldiers in Iraq and almost anyone he came into contact with on a daily basis. He was a faithful member of the Good Samaritan Christian Fellowship Church in Seaford. He was a member and officer of the American Legion in New York. After moving to Laurel in 1996, he joined the American Legion, Post 19 in Laurel.

He is survived by his wife of 64 wonderful years, Evelyn Zimmer Boos; 2 sons, Ken Boos and his wife, Gail and Donald Boos and his wife, Susan; a son-in-law, Sam Hudman; 7 grandchildren, Michelle Gamma (Gerard), Benjamin Hudman, Elizabeth Hudman, Catherine Hudman, Brittany Boos (Shawn), Donald K. Boos and Kerri Boos; 4 great grandchildren, Brandon, Alex, Madison and Kailey; and 2 brothers, his twin, Carl Boos (Corrine) and Robert Boos (Gerri). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and 4 very special friends, Wayne and Doris Mathis and Bill and Helen Close.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Boos Hudman; a sister, Dorothy Adler; and a brother-in-law, Robert Adler.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Samaritan Christian Fellowship Church, 26764 Seaford Road, in Seaford. Pastor Raymond C. Justice, Jr. and Wayne Mathis will officiate.
