Robert E. Clyde, 71, of Delmar died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010.

He was born March 2, 1939, in Port Washington, N.Y., a son of the late Howard and Mary Clyde.
Mr. Clyde was a professional dog handler and a member of the Salisbury Kennel Club and the Irish Terrier Club of Maryland.
He is survived by five sons, David Clyde of New York, Brian Clyde of Florida, Todd Clyde of Delaware, Sean Clyde of New York and Eric Clyde of New York; two daughters, Samantha O'Connell and Beth Scott, both of New York; a brother, Howard Clyde Jr. of Georgia; two sisters, Fran Krug of South Carolina and Beverly Koegler of Florida; his girlfriend, Susan McGarry of Delmar; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous dear friends in the sport of purebred dogs.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. at Short Funeral Home at 13 E. Grove St. in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
