Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson
POCOMOKE CITY — Mary E. "Betty" Jackson, 85, of Pocomoke City died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at her son's home in Pocomoke City, following an extended illness. Born on Aug. 21, 1926, in Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late Owen and Elizabeth Martin Melvin.
A 1943 graduate of Pocomoke High School, she was a bookkeeper for most of her life working for several area companies including WDMV Radio, Duncan Bros. and retiring in 1987 from Cowger Brothers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pocomoke City and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Jackson; a son, William Melvin Jackson; a brother, C.O. Melvin; and a sister, Elaine Melvin.
She is survived by three children, Malissa Wilson, Stanley Jackson and his wife, Terri, all of Pocomoke, and Beth Hart and her husband, Donald, of Keller, Va.; three grandchildren, Matthew Jackson and Avery and Anna Hart.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Massey will officiate. Interment will be private.
