Olia May Hastings Darby

HEBRON—Olia May Hastings Darby, 82, of Hebron passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. Born July 11, 1930, in Hebron, she was the daughter of Charles Howard and Annie Elizabeth Knowles Hastings.

She was retired and lived with her daughter. As a member of the Hebron American Legion Post #237 she participated every year with the Cooper Darby Community Christmas Dinner. The dinners are donated, prepared and delivered by the American Legion Members to Veterans and those that live by themselves. She was very proud to be involved with her community and helping others.

Olia May is survived by daughters, Cynthia L. Hubble of Delmar and Jacqueline A. Hatton of Hebron. Four grandchildren Michael Alan Ward Jr., and Jamie L. Webb and husband Randy of Delmar; Steven Jason Hatton and wife Beth and Jessica A. Brown and husband Steve of Hebron; nine great-grandchildren Logan and Tala Ward, Ashlee Brittingham, Courtney, Kyra and Randy Webb, all of Delmar, Rebecca Rossbach of Salisbury, and Caitlyn and Bryce Brown of Hebron. She was looking forward to the arrival of her first great great-grandson, Robert James Webb due in January. She also loved her many visits from her grand-dogs Lucy, Dexter and Demon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband M. Cooper Darby.

There will be a memorial service held at Nelson's Memorial Church in Hebron on Monday at 6:30pm.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Nelson's Memorial Church PO Box 254 Hebron, MD 21830 or Hebron American Legion Post #237 201 Chestnut Tree Road Hebron, MD 21830 for their Annual Cooper Darby Community Christmas Dinner.
