Robert DeWayne Eckstine Sr.

FRANKFORD, Del—Robert DeWayne Eckstine Sr., 82, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012. He was the only child, born March 23, 1930, to the late Thomas and Alice Eckstine in Smithsburg, Md.

He graduated from Smithsburg High School, Valley Forge Military Academy, and Frostburg State College. His education was interrupted by the Korean Conflict, where he served in the Army, after which he returned to complete his B.S. degree at Frostburg College. He was always learning and believed one should have many different skills. He was first a teacher, then an accountant, and loved flying in his spare time.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg, and later Beards Lutheran Church in Leitersburg, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eckstine; and four children, Deborah (Michael) Jenkins, David Eckstine, Robert Eckstine Jr., and Rich Eckstine. Also three granddaughters, Denise Richardson (Jerry James), Katherine Richardson Krauss (C.R. Krauss), and Amanda Richardson, and three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Alivia and Jullian.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice of Millsboro, Del., for the dedicated service they provided during Bob's care.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 28467 Dupont Blvd., Ste 6, Millsboro, Del. 19966.

A private burial in Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Millsboro will take place at a later date.
