Alvin R. Bozman, Sr.

Eden—Alvin R. Bozman, Sr., 81, of Eden, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

He was born March 3, 1931 in Salisbury, a son of the late Oscar D. Bozman and Katie Smith Bozman.

Alvin proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post 64 in Salisbury. He worked as an electrical contractor, a job he started in his younger days with his father's company, Oscar Bozman & Son in Salisbury. He was a life member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where he served in various capacities through the years. His life revolved around his two most prized possessions, his family and his church. He loved sports, especially baseball and for many years enjoyed coaching little league. He was also a movie buff who could remember most of all the movies he had seen and the actors in them.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn "Kay" E. (Wilkins) Bozman; 3 children, Kathy Nottingham (Richard) of Salisbury, Alvin R. "Chip" Bozman, Jr. (Tammy) of Magnolia, DE and Sue Greene (Jonathan) of Eden; 6 grandchildren, John Nottingham, Amanda Bozman, Ryan Greene, Daniel Nottingham, Kayleigh Bozman and Nicholas Greene; a sister-in-law, Betsy Knotts of Fenwick, Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Kathryn Bozman, who died as an infant, and Iris Hurley; and a brother, Oscar Bozman, Jr., who also died as an infant.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. The Reverends Gary Tulak and Jay Hurley will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow the services at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
