Salisbury—On Jan. 16, 2013 at the age of 69, Claude C. Marvel, with his loving family at his side, entered into peacefulness with grace.
Claude was the son of the late Claude Hunter Marvel and Elizabeth Gladden Marvel. He was blessed to have his loving sister, Wanda Waller and brother-in-law "Billy" Waller. A brother, Kenneth Marvel, predeceased him in 2008. Several nieces & nephews survive.
On Jan. 23, 1970 Helen Banks became his bride. In 1972, Claude's pride & joy, his "baby boy" Michael Shane made their life complete. Joining Michael Shane in marriage was Lisa Bradley who in turn blessed them with three beautiful grandchildren, Ean Michael, Shane Michael & Abbie Lee.
The Wi-Hi Class of 1961 was a very special part of Claude becoming a well rounded person. Claude made & retained many personal friends from these formative years. The support, prayers and compassion exhibited by so many class members during his illness was so very much appreciated.
Athletics at Wi-Hi was the building block for his later years coaching the little ones in his charge. He coached many ages & on many fields leading many young men to glory in winning "Championships" which were numerous with several leagues and teams throughout his life.
Love of baseball was instilled in him at a young age while serving as bat boy for his "Hero...Claude H. Marvel" who played with the old Eastern Shore Baseball League Team of Mardela Springs. They also enjoyed the sport of fishing & waterfowl hunting. They were faithful New York Yankee Fans.
During the "70's" he proudly served as a volunteer with the Salisbury Fire Department. Friendships made there continued for his lifetime.
Claude began with the DuPont Company in 1962 & retired as an electrician in 2001. Many friendships & memories were made and mention of his name will surely bring a smile to those who shared the passage of his years while at DuPont.
Angels were waiting with open arms & loving hearts when Claude entered the doors at Wicomico Nursing Home for a short stay. During the six week stay, love & kindness was extended to Claude and his family in a way that could only come from loving hearts and helping hands within the walls of this blessed facility.
Coastal Hospice carried us to the finale with such compassion, loving & kindness. Our thankfulness cannot be measured in words to the staff & new friends made... Carolyn, Jeri, Vicki, Melodie, Judy, Mark, Cheryl, Kerry & all others for the kindness shown to us. A special thanks to our Pastor, Sharon & Volunteer Rocky.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, at 11am, at the Salisbury Moose Lodge on Snow Hill Rd. A special message of God's Love will be brought by Pastor Eddie Daniels, with remembrances & songs from other friends. Fellowship & refreshments will follow the service in honoring the life of our loved one.
In lieu of flowers, remember our friends at the Wicomico Nursing Home in the memory of Claude C. Marvel.
