Vienna, Maryland—Joseph Kukta, 66, of Vienna, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at University Of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
Born July 9, 1946, in Federalsburg, he was the son of the late John Kukta and Agnes Marie Schemm Kukta.
He served in the US Army during Vietnam and later worked for Burch Paint and Glass for nineteen and a half years until they closed. He retired on October 1, 2012 from Eastern Correctional Institute after twenty years of service. He volunteered with Boy Scouts of America, was a thirty five year member of Cambridge American Legion Post 91, a longtime member of the Chicone Ruritan Club, a Maryland State Fire Police, and a member of Vienna Volunteer Fire Company for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wheatley Kukta of Vienna; two sons, Joseph Norman Kukta and his wife Lisa of Laurel, Delaware and Gregory Allan Kukta and his wife Debbie of Hebron; a daughter, Angela Jefferson and her husband Kurt of Laurel, Delaware; seven grandchildren; Bryannah, Triston, Elizabeth, Julian, Jacob, Sophia, and Cole; a brother, Edward John Kukta of Vienna; a sister, Anna Smith of Bishopville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; Phil Enzenga, Alexander Kukta, John Kukta, Stephen Kukta, and Johnny Kukta.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 12:00PM at the Zeller Funeral in East New Market where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jim Bongard will officiate. Interment will follow in East New Market Cemetery.
