Pocomoke City—William Patrick Flynn

William Patrick Flynn passed away at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury on January 28, 2013.

Bill was born October 2, 1931, Philadelphia, PA to Francis and Ruth Flynn. He was raised in Paulboro, NJ and Wilmington, DE, graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1950 to 1953, aboard a Coast Guard cutter assigned to the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After service he attended the University of Delaware, and then working for Du Pont Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1990. In 1995 he moved to Pocomoke City.

He was an active member of the Lions Club for over 40 years and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Bill enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, duck and goose hunting; in later years fly fishing and tying his own flies. He especially enjoyed several years of making "pocket money" delivering flowers in the area until his health concerns forced his "retirement".

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Francis and James Flynn, and a sister Ruth Schneider.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Nancy Flynn; two sons Timothy Flynn of Salisbury, Kevin Flynn of Annapolis; a daughter Elizabeth Jones and husband Tim of Mt. Vernon; two special grandsons Cliff and Tanner Jones of Princess Anne; special great-grandson Jayce Jones also of Princess Anne; brother Richard Flynn of Wilmington, DE, sister-in-law Virginia Flynn of St Petersburg FL, brother-in-law Charles Schneider of Wilmington DE and numerous nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life, officiated by Rev. Dr. Sally Dolch will be held Saturday, February 9, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Methodist Church in Pocomoke. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, Inc. P.O. Box 1733 Salisbury, MD, 21802.
