Salisbury—Betty Jean Schneider, 82, of Salisbury died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Salisbury Genesis Elder Care in Salisbury. Born on January 19, 1931 in Fruitland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lila Whayland.
Betty Jean worked many jobs that included jewelry store and a grocery store manager, deli manager. She loved to watch Survivor and Wheel of Fortune and also enjoyed needle point, sewing and cooking. She was well known for her country fried chicken and peas and dumplings. Volunteering was rewarding, she volunteered much of her time to a host of organizations and some of them include, Moose Golden Seniors, American Legion Aux. Post # 64, VFW Post #194, and the Blood Bank of Delmarva. She and her husband dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Clause and attended various charity events. Her most favorite and most rewarding job was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, of over 66 years, Irving Eugene Schneider Sr.; three children, Glendon James Schneider and his wife, Agnes, Beverly Ann Wentzel and Bruce Wayne Schneider and his fiancée, Natalie Borello a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy and a son, Irving Eugene Schneider Jr.
A funeral service will be held on 2pm on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Holloway Funeral Home. Officiating will be Father Todd Kissam. Interment will follow at Parsons Cemetery.
