Richard Lee Shockley

Salisbury—Richard Lee Shockley, 73, of Salisbury died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at his home. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Carroll and Madeline Hitchens Shockley.

Mr. Shockley was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Legion and Salisbury Moose. He worked for Dealers Building Supply for many years, retiring in 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved all sports, but truly loved fishing. He loved spending time with his family and especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Shockley of Salisbury; daughters: Lori S. Peters and her husband, Bobby, of Salisbury, Gail S. Guy and her husband, Matt, of Hebron and Karen S. Smith of Salisbury; grandchildren, Riley Peters, Matthew and Lexie Guy, Andrew Shockley and wife, Jacky, and Kelsey, Danielle and Allyson Lecates; sister, Deborah Shockley of Ocean Pines; brothers, Carroll C. Shockley and wife, Linda, of Berlin and Gary M. Shockley and wife, Debbie, of Salisbury; sisters-in-law, Lola Staley of Waseca, Minn., and Lorna Schmitz and husband, Ken of Purlear, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Kevin Wackett will officiate. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
