Salisbury—Frances Anne Coulbourne, 91, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born on Feb. 18, 1921. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Franklin Parker Coulbourne, and her parents, John Walter Smith and Elizabeth Hagan Smith.
Born and raised in Salisbury, Mrs. Coulbourne was a 1939 graduate of Wicomico High School. She was retired from the Social Security Administration in Salisbury.
Mrs. Coulbourne was a 66-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury. She was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star Wicomico 91, a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, Mother Adviser of the Order of Rainbow Girls, and member of the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution. Her volunteer work at Coastal Hospice led to her receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award. She loved to knit afghans for family and friends and knitted baby caps and blankets for newborns at PRMC. She was an expert on needlepoint and count and cross-stitch, and loved to play bridge.
She is survived by four children, Dr. John Routenberg, wife Patti, of Salisbury, Brenda Morris, husband Kenny, of Salisbury, James Coulbourne of Salisbury, and Ann Perry, husband Eric, of Hardwood, Md.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Walter Hagan Smith of Catonsville.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. The Rev. George Patterson will officiate. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions are to be made in her memory to Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 High St., Salisbury, Md. 21804 or Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802.
