George W. Ossman

SALISBURY-George W. Ossman, 80, of Salisbury died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. Born in Wheeling, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward W. and Georgia Folmer Ossman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Henry Ossman and his "Annie" Anne Phipps.

Mr. Ossman was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Mt. Hermon Lions Club, Wicomico County Republicans Club, life member of YMCA and Salisbury Elks Lodge #817. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by cousins, Joan Dieckmann Stein of Wheeling, Joyce Hanna Condry of Rehoboth Beach, Del., Jeanne Dieckmann Princle of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a special second cousin that cared for him during his illness, Kim Ramsey of Virginia Beach, Va.; children of his heart, Gary Phipps (Jan), Cheryl West (Jim), Raymond Phipps-Dickerson (Mary), Mary Jo Geiger (Gregg) and Sue Sherwood (Danny), eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his companion, Linda Kent and a special neighbor, Randy Taylor.

The family would like to thank Coastal Hospice and Angel Network for their care of George during his illness.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Benita Harris will officiate. Inurnment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Asbury United Methodist Church, 1401 Camden Ave., Salisbury, Md. 21801; or Mid Delmarva YMCA, 715 S.
