Mabel Ardis Taylor

SALISBURY-Mabel Ardis Taylor, 96, of Salisbury died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Atria Assisted Living in Salisbury. Born on June 22, 1917, in Salisbury she was the daughter of the late Ernest and May Belle Malone Bounds.

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; Mabel was a lifelong member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church. While raising her children, she worked at the Junior Board Shop. Mabel was an avid shopper and especially loved her shoes. She will always be remembered for her smile and the love she had for everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two husbands, Elwood Ardis and Irvin Taylor and eleven brothers and sisters.

Mabel is survived by six children, William Ardis of Delaware, Ronald Ardis and his wife Karen Ann of South Carolina, Teri Farrer and her husband Keith of Sharpsburg, Md., Cheryl Thornley and her husband Mark of Georgia, Sharon Powers and her husband Kip of Fruitland and Michael Ardis and his wife Jacqui of Laurel; adopted daughter Faye Ingersoll and her husband Norris of Maine; eighteen grandchildren, Lucy, Lee, Ron, Jr (Shelly), Steve (Karen), Greg (Gretchen), Claire, Colleen (Kyle), Josh, Caleb, Aaron, Kim (Earle), Kelly (Matt), Krista (Dave), Timmy (Erin), Tiffany, Kelly, Abigail and Debbie, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. William Warren will officiate. Burial will be private.
