Rakim Russell Obituary
Salisbury-Rakim "Roc" Russell, 17, departed this life at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Rakim "Roc" Lamont Russell was born on March 20, 1998, to Shanell Rena Johnson and Alfred Gunnell Russell.
He was an upcoming senior at Wicomico High School in Salisbury. Rakim was a bright young man; he was a loving person who made friends wherever he went. Rakim's smile was worth a million dollars and he could charm you with that smile and a few words.
Beautiful memories of Rakim "Roc" Russell's life will forever be cherished by his devoted mother, Shannell (Dante) Johnson and father, Alfred (Alicia) Russell all of Salisbury; four sisters, Kamyra Walker, Alyana and Almani Russell and Genesys Russell; two brothers, RaeQwon Mitchell and Zander Baker both of Salisbury; niece, Kaelyn Anderson of Salisbury; god-brother, Trevon Davis; maternal grandparents, Patsy (Gregory) Kenney and Joseph (Karen) Taylor all of Salisbury; paternal grandparents, Thelma Russell and Alfred (Maybelle) Russell; great grandmother, Edna Dillard; god-mother, Lakita Hayward; god-father, Andre Victor and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at New Dimensions Ministries, 1907 Jersey Road, Salisbury, MD at 11 am. A visitation will be held from 9-11 am. Interment will follow the service at Springhill Memory Gardens.

Hearts and prayers goes out to the entire Russell family. I took care of Rakim several times in the nurse's office at Wi Middle School. It is never easy losing a child whether it is through tragedy or sickness. God will take you through. Hold on to God's unchanging hand.
