Frank Hall Obituary

Frank Hall

Millsboro, DE - Frank Hall passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born on March 18, 1937, in Millsboro, DE, specifically where the Holly Lake Camp Store sits today, to Levi Weston Hall and Jeanette Banks Hall. His parents parted this life when he was a small child, so he was raised for the remainder of his childhood by his grandparents, Timothy and Florence Banks.

Frank joined the United States Navy in 1954, where he had the opportunity to tour the world on the USS Elokomin. He returned home in 1958, and began a career in road construction, primarily as a heavy equipment operator with his lifelong friend, Ray Dorman. Over the years, he enjoyed many trades such as a truck driver, helping his father-in-law, James Glime, on his dairy farm, and at NCR in Millsboro, DE. He also operated a rubber tire bull dozer while grooming the beaches for the State of Delaware, retiring in June 2005.

Frank was a lifetime member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and a founding member of the Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad.

Frank loved to read and had a vast knowledge of Sussex County, always having a story to share. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He also had many hobbies, which included hunting and trapping, metal detecting, where he was a member of the Mason Dixon Treasure Club, collecting any and all things through his weekly travels to Wilson's Auction, and most of all gardening. He loved to grow things, simply to watch them flourish and then to give them to others out of the kindness of his heart. He was a member of the USS Elokomin Association, where he attended reunions with his shipmates.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Levi Weston and Jeanette Banks Hall; grandparents Timothy and Florence Banks; and a sister, Iona Hall Turley.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Glime Hall; three daughters, Lisa Stoeckel and her husband, Larry of Georgetown, Shelly Swafford and her husband, Dwayne of Seaford, and Janell Megee and her fiancé, Tim Pulice also of Georgetown. In addition to his children, he is survived by his five grandsons and a granddaughter, Jason Stoeckel and his wife, Courtney, Justin Stoeckel and his wife, Alissa Booth, Derek Swafford, Kalib Megee, and Hunter and Alexa Pulice. Frank also had 5 great-granddaughters, Iva Mae, Kit, Birdie, Carson and Quinn. He is also survived by his by his brother, Leon Hall and his wife, Ann, and three nephews, Glenn Hall, John Turley, and Paul Turley. He was expecting his first great-grandson in the spring of 2018.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 1 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE, where a time of visitation will also be held Tuesday, December 19 from 6 pm until 8 pm. Interment will be at Conley's Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Compassion for Cats of Delaware, 341 Moose Lodge Rd., Camden, DE 19934.
