He will forever live on in the memories and hearts of his friends and family (parents) Kris and Drew Olufson and (brother) Duncan.
In Erik's own words:

cause one day you may have to part"
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, 1630 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver on Erik's birthday, July 16th.

Kris and Drew. We have just learned of Eric's passing. Sending our heartfelt condolences. He was a bright light who shone on all who knew him. Kris,Drew and Duncan. We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of your Beloved Erik. There are no words at a time like this. We hold all of you in our heart, and pour love and Blessings to each of you as you begin the journey to understand and heal from this huge loss. We fondly remember all the times as very young children, all the things the kids did together and all the fond memories. I am so disappointed that I will not be able to attend Erik's Celebration of his amazing Life, as at that time I will be in California and Tia at the moment is in Australia for a year. In the many years that Erik was friends with my son, I came to know him as a kindhearted, friendly, young man. Erik was soft spoken, yet with a microphone in his hand he could belt out a song and captivate a crowd. I am fortunate that I got to hear him sing and perform many times. He had such talent and it will be our loss that we will never hear the music that he had left to write and perform. I will also remember fondly our many Moms and Sons concerts that Erik, Joe, Kris, and I enjoyed together. Kris and I were both blessed to have sons that had no qualms about going with their moms to a rock concert and those will always be precious memories for me.
Kris, Drew, and Duncan, my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry for the loss of Erik, your son and brother that you loved so much.

It was a pleasure watching Erik grow from a boy to a young man. Erik's innocence and sensitive nature made him a person you always wanted to spend time with, talk to, and get to know. It is the creative and gifted ones that are most treasured, celebrated and least understood in our society. Erik was both creative and gifted and we treasure and celebrate his life. Living next door as we did gave us a front row seat to Erik and his band practices. One time early in our relationship, Erik's dad Drew called over during one of those practices which happened to be on a BBQ Sunday with our family over, and asked us if we had any concerns with the music being a disturbance, because the boys were leaving the next day on a road trip and it would be beneficial for them to practice. Collectively as a group, we said the volume was "too low" to catch all the subtleties of Erik's outstanding voice and the melodic nuances it possessed. Kris and Drew are the most devoted parents who live for their kids.Our words can only fail us to express our deepest sense of loss and our sympathy to them and to Duncan.
