It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen on Friday, November 15, 2013 following a long battle with cancer. An ordeal she faced with amazing dignity and grace. A Tsawwassen resident for the past 35 years she was born in Vancouver September 22, 1943. She spent her formative years in Lake Cowichan (Vancouver Island) where she enjoyed a small town childhood and formed many lifelong friendships. Following high school graduation in 1961 she moved to Vancouver and worked a number of years with Zellers and the Royal Bank. A gentle and caring wife, mother and grandmother Karen will be deeply missed by Richard her husband of 49 years daughter Wendy son-in-law Jerry grandsons Nicholas and Kristofer son Michael daughter-in-law Michele granddaughters Kaitlyn and Mya sisters Arlene and Laura as well as several nieces and nephews. Above all Karen cherished her family generously sharing her love, time and artistic talents. A passionate and knowledgeable gardener she also enjoyed many weekends kayaking, hiking or entertaining family and friends at our Birch Bay "Cottage". A special thank you to Dr. Krawchuk and the staff at the Delta Hospice Society for their kindness, compassion and care.
