Dorman Claude Brookey

Retired Colonel Dorman Claude Brookey, 85, conducted his final march, into heaven, on February 1, 2013. Funeral services have been conducted Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in the chapel of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Dorman Claude Brookey was born January 6, 1928 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Alice Ketchum and Claude Brookey.
Dorman and Louemma Jane Breckinridge married August 14, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Okahoma. They came to Las Cruces, New Mexico in the early 50's and have resided in Mesilla Park for 57 years.
Dorman spent his working career with NMSU Extension Service as State 4-H Leader of New Mexico and retired in 1985. He also retired as a Colonel from the United States National Guard in 1982.
Since retiring, Dorman held innumerable positions of leadership in his church and community. Dorman exemplified a life of service. He was a devoted husband, and incredible father and granddad.
Dorman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Louemma Jane Breckinridge, and sisters June Lane, Naomi Rath, and Frankie Ann Cole.
Survivors include two children, Lawrence Dorman Brookey of Mesilla Park, NM and Linda Townson of Celina, TX and four grandchildren; Marie Alice Brookey of Mesilla Park, NM, Michelle Laurie Brookey and husband Michael Geffel of Richmond VA, Graham Dorman Townson and William Thatcher Townson of Celina, TX.
