Eli Sanchez

Eli Apodaca Sanchez, 78, longtime Deming resident passed away Saturday Oct. 12, 2013 at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 from 3 until 5 in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock that evening at St. Ann's Catholic Church led by Fr. Ron Machado. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated there Thursday Oct. 17, 2013 at 10 o'clock in the morning and the rite of committal and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with Fr. Enrique Lopez Escalera, Pastor, officiating. Eli was born Dec. 5, 1935 in Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico to Estanislao Apodaca and Catalina Chavez. She moved to Deming as a young lady. On Sept. 3, 1953 she married Oscar Sanchez in Deming and together raised their family of seven providing as a loving homemaker and great supporter of their children in school. She was a communicant at St. Ann's Catholic Church where she was very active in all of the church organizations, most particularly the League of the Sacred Heart and Altar Society. Survivors are seven children, Rachel and husband, Rosendo, Oscar Jr. and wife, Christina, Gloria, Gerald and wife, Teresa, Ramon and companion, Arden, Paul and wife, Laura and Ismael and wife, Monica; 13 grandchildren, Irene, Adela, Sarah and husband, Richard, Danny, Erika, Vanessa and husband, Patrick, Clarisa, Deanna and companion, Edward, Jaime, Cody, Freddy, Marrisol and Arianna; 14 great-grandchildren, Sergio, Zeke, Mia, Dominic, Alissandra and husband Angel, Oscar and Madelyn, Kylie and Quinlen, Destiny, Estevan, Natalya, Anthony and Marivel and one great-great-grandchild, Antonio Xavier. three sisters survive her as well, Francisca, Eri and Juana Irene and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Oscar Sanchez on Dec. 13, 2003; three sisters, Alicia, Emma and Ruth and a grandson, Omar. Serving as pallbearers will be Sergio, Fernando and Zeke Gonzales, Danny S. Milo, Jaime Carbajal and Cody Garcia.
