Pedro V. Barba, 66, passed away Friday May 2, 2014, at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, following an extended illness. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Baca's Funeral Chapels and the rosary service will be led there at 6 p.m. by his sister, Lucia Montoya. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Deming, followed by the rite of committal and interment at Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Antonio Balderrain will officiate. He was born June 23, 1947 in Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Enedina Varela Apodaca and Pedro Barba Giego. He married Maria Antonieta Mendoza and worked the area ranches on both sides of the border. His love for horses, ranching and the great outdoors were his love, along with this family. He was a communicant of the Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Pedro Barba and wife Hilda of El Paso, Jesus Barba and wife, Jenifer, of Arizona, Abraham Barba of Arizona; two daughters, Maria Teresa Barba, of Columbus, and Karina Barba of Arizona; brother, Manuel Barba, of Palomas; six sisters, Lucia Montoya, Esperanza, Francisca and Teresa Barba, all of Deming, Maria Luisa Armendariz, Albuquerque, and Guadalupe Barba, Tucson, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding him death were his parents, two brothers, Jesus and Ventura Barba, and granddaughters, Arlett and Yasmeli. Serving as pallbearers will be Pedro, Jesus, Axel, Alexis, Isaac and Hector Mireles. Honorary bearers are Irvin and Abraham Barba. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
