Wayne "Hookie" Calloway

Wayne "Hookie" Calloway, 89, a resident of Deming, passed on to eternal life on January 31, 2013 at home here in Deming.
A memorial service will be this Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:30 in the afternoon at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, located at 513 W. First Street.
Wayne was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Henry and Lillie Calloway on August 18, 1923. He was born the eighth child of 13.
Hookie is preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
To his only union, Wayne was blessed with one daughter, Barbara Ann Calloway of California. Wayne leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was a loving person who would give you the shirt off his back. He always had a kind word to say and his open-heartedness and kindness gained many cherished friends.
Wayne lived his last 12 years in the care of Bobbie Valdespino of Deming.
He is survived by five sisters; Lena Woods of Deming, Dorthy (Haymore) Calloway of Las Vegas, NV, Ella Mae (Stewart) Calloway of Denver, CO, Emma Jean Calloway of Stockton, CA, and Letha (Smith) Calloway of Phoenix, AZ.
