Anita Alvarez

Anita Alvarez was born on March 18, 1930 to Jesus and Delfina Jimenez in Deming, New Mexico. God called her to His Heavenly Home on June 13, 2010 at her home with her family in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
She grew up in the Deming area, attending Deming Public Schools. On November 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Mike C. Alvarez. Four sons were born to this union.
Anita continued her education at Cochise College in Bisbee, Arizona, earning her LPN and then RN degrees. She began her 25-year nursing career at Copper Queen Hospital in Bisbee. This career led her to Tucson Medical Center, Mimbres Memorial Hospital, Memorial Medical Center, Mesilla Valley Hospice and a the Gadsden High School Nurse in Anthony, NM.
She was a dedicated nurse that gave great care and love to her patients and found joy in assisting in the delivery of babies.
Ever-evident was her adventurous spirit and her desire to live life to the fullest. She loved traveling, country-western dancing, flying lessons, the World Series, swimming and Scrabble; sharing these times with her family who were always No. 1 to her.
Most recently, she found joy getting acquainted with her great-grandson, Aiden. She was also a member of the VFW and the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mike, an infant child, Manuel, and her siblings, Sally Shannon, Paul Jimenez and Raul Jimenez.
Her memory and spirit will live on through the lives of her sons, Mike (Olga) of Albuquerque, John (Dee Ann) of Bridgewater, SD; Bob (Janey) of Rancho Cucamonga; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Lora Silva, Tucson; Nellie Young, Keller, Texas; Margaret Alvarez, Deming; Jesus Jimenez Jr., Las Cruces, NM; and her many dear nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Deming, with Fr. Josh Duplissey officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming. A reception will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Church Parish Hall.
As to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Entrusted to the care of Inland Memorial Mortuary in Upland, California.
