Connie Luera, 67, a Deming resident, passed away Monday October 1, 2012 at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Las Cruces.

Visitation will start today, Wednesday afternoon at 3 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, with the prayer vigil to follow at 6 o'clock. Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Ann's Catholic Church, with Fr. Enrique Lopez Escalera officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Connie was born April 13, 1945 in Dwyer to Margarita Alcorta and Miguel P. Madrid. She worked at St. Ann's Catholic Church, was a Eucharist Minister and participated in serving bereavement luncheons.
Connie loved to play bingo and was well known for her famous tamales. She had a strong faith in God, was a good listener and would pray for you. She was a loving and wonderful mother to her kids and grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Norma Madrid and husband, Miguel Gonzalez, Eufemia Pacheco and husband, Juan Carlos all of Deming; son, Marical Zamora of Deming; 2 brothers, Ernie Madrid of Deming, Sam Madrid of Minnesota; a sister, Lucy Calderon of Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren Andrea Perez, Julian and Claudia Pacheco and 4 great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Joel Madrid, Sammy Jr., and Nathaniel Perez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Manuel Luera on Oct. 23, 2001.
