Herbert Lee Stewart passed away March 19, 2013 in Fort Worth Texas.
Herb was born on December 2, 1945, to Wesley and Agnes Stewart in Anahuac Texas. He grew up in Winnie, Texas, until 1965 when he began Army training and was a part of E4 Specialized Class X-ray tech and flew in Life Flight and served in Vietnam in 1967.
Upon returning from military service he began flight training in Dallas, Texas. He started crop dusting with M&M Air Service and worked as a surveyor for Tommy Flowers in the off-season.
In 1973, he went to Deming N.M., where he flew for Burr Hobbs, and it was there he met his wife, Diane, of 37 years.
After leaving Deming in 1981, they moved to Pecos, Texas where he flew with Lukins Flying Service, which he later purchased. Herb was fluent in French and had the gift of gab. He never met a stranger! He was a generous giving person with a big heart and would help anyone he met along the way.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed cooking for local events. He spent many years cooking with Hugh Box for the livestock shows. He donated to many charities especially ones involving the youth and served on the Rodeo Committee for several years.
Herb is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Diane, children, Traci Stewart, of Winnie, Texas; Clint and Tobi Stewart, of Pecos, Texas; Kristin and Darby Dorman, of Weatherford, Texas; Kim and Danny Gutierrez, and Lauri and Joe Avalos, of Chandler, AZ; and 9 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Stewart and his sister, Julia Fesmire.
Surviving siblings are: Shirley Stewart, of Deer Park, Texas; brothers, James "Buck" Stewart, of Queen Cit,y Texas; Alvin and Cynthia Stewart, of Winnie, Texas.
