Kitty Kathleen Schultze died on January 23, 2013 in Croton-On-Hudson, New York, following an illness.
A service celebrating her life will be held this spring or summer in Hope, Arkansas.
Kitty was born on August 9, 1928, as Kathleen Tolleson, to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Tolleson. She grew up in Hope, Arkansas where she graduated from Hope High School and nearby Henderson Teacher's College.
By all accounts, Kitty was one of the most striking young women in Arkansas. She won several beauty pageants, including Queen of Stars, whose voting body was the Notre Dame football team.
In 1948, she married Claude Vernon Nunn, Jr., who was city attorney of Hope in 1949. In 1960, the Nunn's moved to Lordsburg, New Mexico where Mr. Nunn became city attorney and Kitty taught school.
After C.V. Nunn died in 1968, Kitty moved to Deming, New Mexico and continued to teach. In 1988, she married Ray Schultze, a retired mining engineer, who died in 1997.
Kitty later retired to Las Cruces, New Mexico.
In 2011, Kitty was diagnosed with cancer and moved to her son's home in Croton-On-Hudson, NY, for treatment at nearby Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She died painlessly at home there on January 23, 2013, with her son, Remmel, his wife, Kate; and their son, William Barrett Nunn by her side.
More beautiful than ever during her final years of life, Kitty was - above all - a beauty in her heart and ours, where beauty cannot die.
Survivors, other than family in New York, include two sisters, Jackie Jeffreys Ramsey (formerly of Deming) and Dolores McRae of Hope, Ark. Nephews include Gary Jeffreys (wife Claudia) of Deming; and Danny Jeffreys (wife Suzie) of Tomball, Texas; and Mike Tolleson of Hope, Ark; and niece, Mary Gail Burgess of Hot Springs, Ark.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, W.C. and Clara Tolleson and a brother, W.C. Tolleson, Jr.
