Lois A. Stanton, born on February 20, 1938 in Flushing, NY, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2013 in Deming, NM after a brief illness.
The Guest Book is expired.
Lois was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Kavanagh.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Ward Stanton and their children; Michael Stanton of Chenango Forks, NY, Tom and Louanne Stanton of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Deenna Stanton of Smithville, NY, and Greg Stanton and his fiancé, Lori Fields, of Chenango Forks, NY.
Lois also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Ashlie Braman and her son Jarron, Kyle and Katie Braman and their daughter Reannon, Sherri Stanton, Kale Webb and Marina Rubera and their son Andrew, Carli Stanton and her son Gavin, Jessica and Aaron Brohman and their children Caleb and Aubrey, and Jennifer and Jay Mattson.
Also surviving Lois are her many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Alice French, all of whom she adored dearly.
After leaving the city to enjoy the country life, Lois and Ward started their family on Page Brook Road. Lois took great joy out of the many camping trips that she and Ward shared with their kids and friends, watching her children's sporting events and playing scrabble and dominoes with anyone who dared challenge her.
An avid golfer for many years, she traded her clubs in for crochet needles and her arts and crafts.
Lois was employed for many years at Binghamton General Hospital and UHS as a cardiac care technician and then at Greene Central School in the district office.
Lois was very active in many local support groups and thoroughly enjoyed her time volunteering at schools and Children's Homes with her pet therapy dog Kiva.
She will always be remembered for her terrific sense of humor, "the look," strong opinions and constant companionship of a tissue box for her allergies.
Lois taught us many lessons in life. We will miss her sharp wit and terrific smile.
A memorial service will be held for Lois in New York later this year. Details of the service will be announced in this paper once plans are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the
of Central New York in memory of Lois A. Stanton.
