Ramona "Monchie" Chavez Silva, 84, passed away at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California, surrounded by loved ones, on January 11, 2013.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon, January 22, 2013 at 4 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapel, with the prayer vigil that evening at 6 o'clock. Mass of the Resurrection will be Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Fr. Enrique Lopez Escalera officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Monchie was born March 4, 1928 in Derry to and Nicolasa Martinez and Lino Chavez. She had worked at Auburn Rubber Company. Monchie married Lewis Silva and moved to California. She was a homemaker and took care of children in her home. She loved Bingo, dancing and children.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Silva of 47 years; brother, Santiago Chavez and wife Lupe; 4 sisters, Josie Herrera, Lori Morales and husband Joe, Rosie Medina and Virginia Sprunk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lino and Nicolasa Chavez, brothers, Euesbio Cruz Chavez, Lino Jr., sisters, Lupe DeLaO, Belen Bila Vallejos, Nico Alderete, Barbara Acosta, Jenny Herrera; her niece, Martha DeLaO Jasso that she raised like her daughter for 9 years.
Pallbearers will be Diego Herrera, Michael Silva, Joseph Holguin, Robert Medina, Ronnie Medina and Lucas Duran. Honorary bearers are Randy Herrera and Lino Chavez.
