Virginia Trujillo Vega, 92, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, N.M. She was born on April 16, 1921, in Arrey, to Santiago Lucero Trujillo and Maria Bencomo Trujillo. She was the 10th of 14 children and was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Deming. The prayer vigil will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Friday evening, Feb. 14, 2014. Viewing will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at St. Ann's, with the Rev. Enrique Lopez Escalera, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow at Mimbres Crematory. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In 1934, she met her future husband, Julian Chavez Vega, and on June 7, 1936, they were married. Julian built their home in Deming, where they settled and resided together for 56 years until Julian's death in 1992. They raised their five children, Valentine, Rose, Cecilia, Anna Mae and Albert. Virginia was a full-time homemaker until 1956, when all of her children were in school, then went to work as a clerk at Miller Wells Dry Goods Store, later known as Lehman's Dry Goods Store. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking, singing and spending time with all of her grandchildren. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Rosendo, Ramon, Antonio, Joe, Elizeo, and Francisco; five sisters, Angelita, Josephine, Mercedes, Aurora and Helen; husband, Julian; daughter, Anna Mae; son-in-law, Pete Sedillo and great-granddaughter, Gabriela. Virginia is survived by two sons, Valentine (Cindy) and Albert (Marianne); two daughters, Rose Sedillo and Cecilia LaVertu (Jon); grandchildren, Victor, Benjamin, Vernon, Elizabeth, Peter Randal, Gary, Shirley, Sandra, Albert Jayson, Jacob, Aubrey, Brittany, Mariah, Mayla and Carina Nicole (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Justin, Stephen, Aiden, Parker, Christopher, Joseph, Melissa, Brian, Kristina, Tiffany, Michael, Cheyanne, Chloe, Kayden, Lola, Luna and Julian and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A great "thank you" to special friend, Gary Ciccotelli, who always accompanied her at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday Mass and who was always there for her, to Father Enrique for his love, compassion and guidance, and to the nurses and staff of Mimbres Valley Home Health, to Dr. Zahir and Mountain View Hospital for their wonderful care. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Victor, Ben, Vernon, Albert Jayson and Jacob Vega and Peter and Gary Sedillo. Honorary bearer is Gary Ciccotelli. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church Building Fund. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
