Elizabeth Reid Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Haley Reid, 95, passed away on Aug. 17, 2014, in Idalou, Texas. She was born at home near Smithfield, Texas, on Nov. 18, 1918. She married the love of her life, Bush Warren Reid, on July 10, 1947, in Post, Texas. Together they began a life of ranching and raising their family in several states, starting in Clairemont,Texas, moving to Montana, Colorado, Nevada, and finally to New Mexico in 1969. Betty moved to Idalou in April 2014.

Betty owned and operated a real-estate office, A Bar A Realty, in Deming and in 1972 moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and started Reid's Realtors. Many remember the homemade salad dressing she created from scratch, and the great meals served to many friends, family and cowboys over the years. Also, the great hospitality shown to their many friends and family that visited them was never forgotten.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bush W. Reid, in 2005; her parents; baby sister Jean Haley; and a brother, Hubert Edward Haley; granddaughter, Laurie Hansen; twin grandsons, Ross and Ryan Reid; niece Karen Haley Rex and nephew Daryl Reid.

She is survived by a son, Kyle and wife Linda of Petersburg, Texas, daughter Della Dunlap and husband Art, of Encino, New Mexico; sister-in-law Phyllis Haley of Hurst, Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren, Joe Kyle Reid, and wife, Leslie, of Shallowater, Texas, children, Natalie and Quincy; Allison Reid of Lubbock, Texas, children Kyle Ray and Eva, Brett Dunlap and wife Amber, of Bowie, Texas, and son Cord; and Haley Wilson and husband, Terral, of Dumas, Texas, children Jake and Kye. Betty is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Patsy Moyers and the staff at the Beehive in Deming for the excellent care given to our mother. Special thanks go to hospice nurses Kim Lara and Tracie Martin, and Pastor David Drake of Accolade Hospice in Lubbock, Texas.
