Raymond Flores, 87, a longtime Deming resident, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at his son's residence in Alamogordo.
Visitation is scheduled for today, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 beginning at 6 p.m. with a prayer vigil set for 7 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapels. Mass of the Resurrection will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Fr. Enrique López Escalera officiating. Concluding services will follow immediately at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming.
Raymond was born on October 12, 1923 in Columbus, New Mexico to Jesusita Diaz and Santiago Flores. Raymond served honorably as a Marine during the World War II. After the war he traveled around the US and settled here in Deming where he married Socorro 'Sukie' Chavez in 1947. He loved to work in masonry and was also a roofer in the area. Raymond was a member of and a communicant at St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Frank Flores of Juarez, Mexico, Tony Flores of Deming, and David Flores (Donna) of Alamogordo; two daughters, Vicky F. Villegas of Deming and Corina F. Caballero (Eddie) of Las Cruces; one sister, Consuelo Apodaca of El Paso; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Francisco Flores, Jr., Gerardo Flores, Armando Villegas, Ozvaldo Villegas, Joseph Flores, Roman Caballero and Eddie Caballero, Jr.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Socorro 'Sukie' Flores and a son Raymond Flores in 1990.
