Consuelo Dominguez, a lifetime resident of the Mimbres Valley, passed away at her home in Faywood Sunday July 15, 2012 after having celebrated her 98th birthday with her family and a host of friends on Saturday.
Visitation will begin at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, July 20, at Baca's Funeral Chapel in Deming where the vigil service will be held at 7 o'clock that evening led by her nephew, Deacon Dan Peña. On Saturday, July 21, visitation will be held at San Jose Catholic Church in Faywood beginning at 12 noon, followed by the Funeral Mass at 1 o'clock. The rite of committal and interment to follow at the San Jose Cemetery. Fr. Roberto Barreto, Pastor, will officiate.
She was born July 10, 1914 to Virginia Soliz and Guillermo Silva in Whitewater, NM. On January 13, 1934 she married Valentin Swartz Dominguez at San Jose Church in Dwyer (now Faywood) and were the parents of 11 children. She was a communicant of San Jose Catholic Church and worked on the family ranch and farm until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
Surviving her are 6 sons, Luis and wife Maria, Frank and wife Ernestine and Ray and wife Martha of Deming; Leandro and wife Lupe of Swartz, Valentin and wife Charlotte of Las Cruces and Johnny and wife Marian of North Hurley; 2 daughters, Virginia Garcia of Deming and Angelina Hardin and husband Karl of Faywood; 38 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband Valentin in 2002; a son, George Dominguez; 4 sisters, Rumalda Lopez, Filomena Madrid, Maria Sias and Adelina Pena; and a brother Daniel Silva.
Serving as pallbearers are Pancho, Randy, Ernie, Marcus, Antonio, Spencer, George, Ray Jr. , Juan Eduardo and Leandro Dominguez Jr.
