Mary Cousland Miller was born on June 1, 1932 to Ethel and Lonnie Cousland in Silver City, New Mexico.
The Guest Book is expired.
As a young woman she grew up in a ranching family and shared an appreciation of that lifestyle with family and friends.
She graduated from the University of New Mexico and spent her career as an elementary school teacher. She played a huge role in shaping the lives of the children she taught and was passionate about teaching them not only to read, but to love reading.
She finished her career teaching in Visalia at Mineral King School. She loved traveling and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband, John; her sisters, Saralee Ragland of Deming, New Mexico and Ruby Yarborough of Buffalo Gap, Texas; her son, Lonnie Miller and daughter-in-law Victoria Black Miller, of Visalia; her daughter Kimberly Gustin and son-in-law Beryl Gustin, of Montrose, Colorado; and her grandchild, Matthew Miller of Visalia.
A memorial service will be held this summer in Deming, New Mexico.
In lieu of flowers, her family is asking people to make a gift to the PKD foundation in memory of their mother.
