Manuel Lucero Salaiz, 92, a resident of Deming, New Mexico, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his residence.
Manuel was born on June 3, 1920 in Faywood, NM, to Pedro Chavira Salaiz and Mariana Lucero Salaiz. He served in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He was discharged as Warrant Officer in 1954. Mr. Salaiz was in the service for a total of 13 years.
He is survived by his spouse of 39 years, Janie Salaiz of Deming, NM; a daughter, Leanna Hulse of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Candelario Salaiz of West Covina, CA; a step-son, Joe Hermosillo Jr. and his wife Ronda of Kalispel, MT; a step-daughter, Cindy H. LaFragola of Deming, NM; seven grandchildren; Carri F. Harrison and her husband Mark, Shalee E. Zumwalt, Trevin Hermosillo and his wife Ema, Colton Hermosillo, Jason Hulse and his wife Mandy, Matthew Hulse and his wife Kristy, and Beau Hulse and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Raynaldo Salaiz, Roberto Salaiz, Ramon Salaiz and Marcos Salaiz and a sister, Dorita Salaiz.
Viewing will be on Friday, May 10, 2013 from noon to 1 p.m., with the holy rosary beginning at 1 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will also be on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Father Roberto Barreto officiating.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Hermosillo, Jason Hulse, Ricardo Pastran, Jesus Carbajal, Juan Terrazas and Don Hartman.
Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Mimbres Valley Home Health & Hospice.
