McDonald, David J.
McDonald, David J. Rochester: On Wednesday February 25th in the late afternoon David J. McDonald died peacefully at Allenmore Hospital surrounded by his children. We remember him as a dynamic and imaginative father who introduced us, and many others, to extraordinary adventures. He would have been 87 on Sunday. Born on March 8th, 1928 David was a graduate of University of Pacific in Stockton, California. A leader in the food industry, he was President of Nalley's Fine Foods in Tacoma, Washington and then Chief Executive Officer of Curtice-Burns Foods in Rochester, New York. In addition, he played a leadership role in the industry as a director and officer of national snack food trade associations, including Chairman of the National Food Processors Association, the food industry's largest membership trade association. He also contributed generously to his community with his time and resources, serving as president of the Boy Scouts of America, Area III, which includes most of New York State and participating on the board of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Most of all David was a devoted and loving husband to the late E. Janet McDonald, his wife of fifty-nine years, and father to his four children, Stephanie (Mike), Alex (Vinny), Libby (Erik), and John (Jen); and ten grandchildren, Erin, Katie, Kelli, Karli, Paulina, Matilda, Daniel, George, Harrison, and Noah who have unforgettable memories of their fun-loving and hilarious Grandad. A service will be held at St. Mary's Church in Lakewood, Washington on Sunday March 8th at 2 pm with a reception to follow.
