Walsh, Donald "Baldy"
Fort Collins, CO: Age 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Fort Collins, Colorado. One of 7 siblings, Don was born August 11, 1925 to John J. and Alice Walsh in Rochester, NY. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1943 and began working for Eastman Kodak Company. On June 7, 1952, Don married Elizabeth (Betty) Buckwell. They were married 57 years and raised three children. The Walsh family moved to Fort Collins in 1971, where Don continued his work as an electrician with Kodak until he retired in 1983 with 40 years of service. Donnie had always been an avid golfer and enjoyed sharing his wisdom and quick wit at frequent "19th Hole" gatherings. One of our Nation's heroes, Don is a veteran of World War II
. He was in the U.S. Navy
from 1943 to 1946 and served aboard the destroyer USS Barker and saw action in both the European and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his infant daughter, Mary Walsh; his parents, John and Alice Walsh, and by his siblings, John (Jack) Walsh, Harold Walsh, and Richard (Dick) Walsh. Don is survived by his children; Tim Walsh of Ft. Collins, CO, Sue Friede (Mike) of Loveland, CO, and Terry Walsh (Denise) of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Nicole Walsh, Tucker Knight, Danny Knight, Jenna Friede and Shane Friede; his sisters, Margaret (Peggy) Wirth, Marie Schicker, Mary (Betty) Jamieson, and several nieces and nephews.
We will celebrate Don's life with the Mass of the Resurrection at Blessed John the 23rd in Ft. Collins at 11 am on Monday, September 30th. After the service, interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with military honors concluding the service. Following the service a mid-afternoon gathering will be at Don's favorite "19th Hole", Mulligan's Pub.
