Calendo, Irene M. "Nana"

Webster: October 24, 2013. Went home to Heaven in the arms of Jesus. Predeceased by her parents, Mary and Charles Kohling and sister, Vera. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years Dan; children, Barbara Potter of Forth Worth, TX, Donna Bell of Brighton; Daniel of Rome, Italy; grandchildren, Rachel, Austin, Mallory (Benny), Andrea (Steven), Jaren and Breven; 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dearest friends, Helen and John.

She was a well-known calligrapher in Webster for 42 years. She and Dan were business partners and experts in penmanship. Irene served as the president of the IAMPETH-International Calligraphy Association three times and served as vice-president. In 1979, she became the first female to be associated with the Japanese Penmanship Organization. Irene was a member and past president of the Greater Rochester Penmanship Club. She taught ornamental penmanship in continuing education programs and was a former handwriting consultant for Zaner-Blozer Educational Publishers teaching penmanship to elementary school-aged children. Irene hand-lettered all the Rochester City School secondary diplomas for over 20 years

Friends may call Tuesday, 4-7 PM at Anthony Funeral Chapel (1031 Ridge Rd.). A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 11 AM at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Road, Penfield.
