John D. Mee

Mee, John D.

Rochester: 10/1/1936 - 2/19/2013. Age 76, passed away in Rochester, NY following a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in England and was the son of the late Frederick and Edna Mee. John was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Davina, who passed away on January 4, 2013. He is survived by sons, David Mee (Laura) of Brentwood, TN and son Robert Mee (Kristi) of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Joanne DeHond of Webster, NY; sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Leland Aldrich of Bogart, GA; as well as six grandchildren, two nephews, and many friends.

John was educated at Harrow School, Oxford University, and the University of London, and was an officer in the Royal Air Force. He was married to Davina on April 27, 1963 in Pinner, England and moved to Rochester where he spent his career as a research chemist at Eastman Kodak Company, earning more than 40 U.S. patents during his career. John became a U.S. citizen in 1980. He enjoyed athletics throughout life, was an avid golfer, and played on the Kodak squash team for many years. John and Davina spent their retirement years in Rochester and Whitsett, NC.

A luncheon reception and gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday, February 27 at 12:00 pm at Mario's Restaurant, 2740 Monroe Avenue, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Sage Harbor at Baywinde, Wilmot Cancer Center, and Leo Center for Caring for their dedicated service.
