Pittsford: Surrounded by his loving family, Joseph peacefully went to Heaven on May 24, 2013. An outstanding husband, father, grandfather, successful restaurateur, and do-it-yourselfer, Joe lived with an unending sense of humor and common sense.
He was born the sixth of eight children on September 10, 1928, to parents emigrated from the Abbruzze Region of Italy. Always ambitious and hard-working, Joe's career started as a busboy at the Town Tavern on Gibbs Street and continued on at Loperfedo's Italian Restaurant on Court Street, Valley Echo Caterers, Pittsford Tavern on the Mall and Gatson's Restaurant in the Renaissance Apartments on East Ave. He was a U.S. Army
veteran serving in the Korean War
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Mary & James; brothers, Andy, Dominic, Patrick; and sister, Angie; and many close friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Clara; children, Laurie (Anthony) Sagona, Joseph (Debbie) Gattelaro, and Brad (Jennifer) Gattelaro; his grandchildren, Lindsay (James) Reap, Christie, Kyle, Alexandra and Patrick, were his pride & joy. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Gattelaro; and brother, Fred (Lena) Gattelaro; many nieces & nephews.
