Rochester: July 26, 2013, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Canandaigua VA Hospital at age 96. Predeceased by his loving wife, Estrina "Stella"; and daughter-in-law, Judy Palermo; brother, Alphonse; sisters, Kay LaPorta, Julie Piedici, Angie Palermo and Connie Palermo. Survived by his loving son, Joseph (Ellen); loving grandfather of Joseph, Jeffrey, Jay J. (Janice) Palermo, and Patrick Lattin; great-grandfather of Jennifer, Jeffrey, Anthony, Benjamin and Alyssa; brother of Thomas (Loretta), Josie Townley, Jean Polizzi; brother-in-law of Helen Palermo, Roy and Laura Hayes. Special thanks for the love and support from his nephew and god-child Lewis (Sue) Palermo; nephew, Peter Michael (Carol) Consol who he called his second son and nephew, Christopher Polizzi; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joe was a 2x Veteran of WWII with 2 honorable discharges. He was retired from Bausch & Lomb after 40 years of service. HIS LOVE WAS HIS FAMILY and he enjoyed sports especially his beloved Yankees. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Perinton Park Manor, VNS Hospice Care, Benincasa Hospice Home and the Canandaigua VA Hospital.

Friends may call Monday 4-8 PM at the Dierna Funeral Home, 2309 Culver Road (near Norton). Joe's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10:30 AM at St. Kateri at St. Cecilia's Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
