Alhart, Lois Ruth

Fairport: Lois, true to her strong faith, entered God's eternal kingdom on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the age of 102. There, she joins her husband, Gene, who passed away on Christmas Day, 1995, and a son, David Eugene George Alhart, who died- at birth- in 1935. She is also predeceased by her sister, Dorothy, and brother, Elwood.

She leaves behind her only daughter, Shirley Jean Lenox (Peter), and two sons- David Eugene George Alhart, and Donald Whitney Alhart (Mary). She will also be missed, dearly, by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was born on March 30, 1911 to George and Emma Cannon. Her father was a piano teacher and church organist. Upon graduation from John Marshall High School, she received secretarial training at the Rochester Business Institute. She worked as a secretary at Eastman Kodak and at the Lake Avenue Baptist Church, where she has been a lifelong member. Lois loved little children and fulfilled that passion as a Sunday School Teacher. She served on the Women's Board of the Fairport Baptist Home, where she resided in her final years. She was also a member of the Women of Rotary.

Friends will be greeted at the Anthony Funeral Chapel, 2305 Monroe Avenue in Brighton, NY, on Friday, August 2, 2013, from 4:00- 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Asbury First Methodist Church on East Avenue. (Parking will be available in the adjacent Gleason Works lot. Please follow the signs)

Lois Alhart's family would especially like to thank the entire staff at the Fairport Baptist Home, especially those on the third floor, whose loving care filled her final days with comfort and peace.
