Rochester: Feb. 22, 2013 at age 85. Predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Maurice E. Collins and son-in-law, Franklin R. Smith. Survived by her children, Maureen (George) Goodwin of Troy, NY, Patricia Collins, Daniel (Carol) Collins, Michele Collins, Terrence (Lisa) Collins of Rosamond, CA, Christine (Richard) Huether and Kathleen Collins; grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey, Tracy, Bob, Stephanie, Genevieve, and Steven; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Alex, Adia, Colin, Jake, and Sabrina; sister-in-law, Noreen Collins; several nieces and nephews. Shirley retired from the US Postal Service in 1982. She enjoyed line dancing, and was very active in several VFW
Auxiliaries in NY and Apple Valley, CA. The family would like to give a special thank-you to Connie from Visiting Nurse Service Hospice and the staff at Monroe Community Hospital/ Hope 3, especially, Pilar for her devoted care, always making sure Mom looked her best every day.
Friends may call Wednesday, 5-9 at the Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd. (between English and Latta). Funeral Mass 10:30 Thursday at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Monroe Community Hospital or Visiting Nurse Service Hospice.
