Alber, Norbert J.
Gland, Switzerland: January 17, 2014, peacefully, at age 84. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Alber; two sons, Wayne and Michael Alber; daughter, Jill (Fred) Salber; six grandchildren, Adam and Keegan Alber, Jordan, Jared, Jacob and Carley Salber; and several relatives in Switzerland. He was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Alber; and grandson, Joseph Salber.
Mr. Alber emigrated from the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland in 1948 to the United States. He lived in the Canandaigua and Rochester areas. Mr. Alber was a US Air Force
veteran. He was employed at Eastman Kodak (Lincoln Plant) and Perkin-Elmer. Mr. Alber moved to Los Angeles in 1963 for Eastman Kodak. He was involved with the "Blackbird" spy planes in both Groom Lake/Area 51 and Okinawa during the mid-1960's. After retiring from Perkin-Elmer in 1985, Mr. Alber owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Calistoga, California. He became tasting room manager for David Bruce Winery in Northern California, before marrying Nancy, in 1996. Mr. and Mrs. Alber moved to Switzerland shortly thereafter.
Services will be held in Switzerland, his birthplace. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario ARC, 3071 County Complex Dr., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
