O'Neil, Patricia Anne

Rochester: At age 83 died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1929 on the Isle of Guernsey in the English Channel to the late Hugh O'Neil and Jean Van de Water. She was a niece of Rose O'Neil, famous illustrator, artist and originator of the Kewpie Doll.

Her brother, Hugh, predeceased her, and she is survived by three nephews, James (Mary Jean) Munger of Mexico, NY, David (Pat) O'Neil of Springfield, MO, and James O' Neil of Cleburn, TX.

Pat graduated from the University of Florida, Gainesville with a bachelor of science in chemistry. In moving to New York State she was employed by Monroe Community College, where she taught and developed new chemistry courses for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Recently she became involved in MCC's foundation to provide scholarships for future students. She was a member of the American Chemical Society, and served as the chair of the Western New York State two-year College Chemistry Teachers Association.

Friends may call Friday, 4-5 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.) where a Memorial Service will follow at 5 PM. Donations in Patricia's memory may be made to the Monroe Community College Foundation.
