Steamer, Robert Julius
State College, PA: January 24, 2013. Native of Rochester, N.Y. Predeceased by his wife, Jean. He is survived by sons, Gregg R. (Anita) Steamer of West Dundee, IL and James W.(Kathleen) of State College, PA; grandchildren, Jillian, Bruce and Daniel; sister, Betty Schaefer of CO.
A graduate of John Marshall High School in Rochester in 1939 and Bucknell University in 1947. He obtained advanced degrees: MA from the University of Virginia (1952), PhD from Cornell University (1954), and performed post doctoral study at Oxford University (1968-69). He taught for 35 years as a professor of constitutional law with several universities, including the University of Massachusetts at Boston from which he retired in 1987. He wrote scores of articles and reviews in law and political science journals and authored several books with primary focus upon the US Supreme Court. He served for four years in the US Air Force during World War II
and was discharged with the rank of captain. He is listed in Who's Who in America since 1965.
Friends may call Saturday, Feb. 16th, Noon to 2 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.) where a service will immediately follow at 2 PM. Interment at Mumford Cemetery.
