Gordon Small Obituary
Patten
Pittsford: Passed away peacefully at his home on September 6, 2013 at age 89. Gordie was born in Springfield, MA, son of the late Harold and Elizabeth Small. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edith Lunt Small of Pittsford; sons Scott (Diane White) Small of Hampden, Maine, Robert Small of Silverthorne, Colorado and Stuart (Wylie) Small of Brighton; grandchildren Rudy, Shannon, Stanley, and Eliot Small, several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.
Gordie was a graduate of Phillips Academy in Andover, MA and Yale University. During World War II, Gordie served as a Private First Class in the Army in the European Theatre. After the war, Gordie moved to Rochester where he had a lifetime career as a successful insurance executive, avid tennis player, golfer, reader, and traveler. A past President of the Genesee Valley Club, he loved animals, discussing current events, and spending time with his many friends and family.
A Memorial Service in his honor will be held at Christ Church, 36 S. Main St., Pittsford on September 27 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider donations to Christ Church; Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport 14450; or a charity of their choice. Edie, I am so sorry for your loss. Gordon was a good man. He made such a difference in my life. I will miss him dearly. Dave and I are so glad that we got to see him a few weeks ago.
