Scottsville/Rochester - October 21, 1979 - November 30, 2017. Predeceased by her grandparents Jane and George Skivington and Shirley and Victor DiStefano, uncle Mark DiStefano. She is survived by her loving husband Shawn Jackett and cherished dogs Darla and Duncan, parents Lynne and Michael Skivington, brother Steven (Ashley Dolan), several adoring aunts, uncles and cousins. Kind, empathic, witty, feisty, with great gusto, and the highest level of care, Jill positively touched the lives of many. Jill had a zest for life like no other! Whether it was running a marathon or local race, teaching a piece of literature to her high school students, directing a musical production, climbing an Adirondack mountain, singing for the world to hear, paddling the Adirondack Canoe Classic (The ninety miler), cooking fish, she immersed herself completely. There could be no better wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, or teacher!!
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday December 6th in the education building at Genesee Country Village, Flint Hill Road in Mumford from 2pm to 5 pm.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends, students and canine friends of Jill Jackett. The loss of a great teacher is indeed a deep loss. I didn't know Jill, but I feel very saddened by the loss of a life that brought such positive energy to the people around her. Jill was the sweetest, prettiest, most sensible of neighbors. The news was devastating to us, so I can hardly imagine how it is for Shawn, who loved her more than words can say and the rest of her family. Faith is the substance of things unseen, and when I was at yoga on Friday morning, I felt her gentle loving presence surrounding us all.

I am so very sorry about the loss of Jill. Although I did not know her very well, we became friends working summer school for boces 2. She was my neighbor in the classroom next door to me and we quickly became friends, like we knew each other for years. She and I had the same attitude about teaching our 9th grade summer school students ... and understood each other with just a look. She was an amazing teacher with those students. I was very fortunate to have met Jill and am saddened our friendship wasn't that long... but I was blessed to have been touched by her wonderful personality. May God watch over Jill and her family now and always.

I was shocked and equally saddened when I heard the tragic news about your beautiful daughter Jill. I'm so very sorry for the whole family.
I knew Jill when she was just a girl at Wheatland Chili elementary school. I was a teacher there and remember her wonderful personality and her loving parents. I'm not surprised that she grew up to be a terrific woman, teacher and so much more.

I did not know Jill but I know from all I have heard and read she was one of a kind and a very special lady. In growing up in Scottsville with all the Skivingtons I know that Jill was an over achiever and had a heart of gold just like the rest of the family I have known for years. Jill was a great teacher who helped encourage my son to be who he is today. I still remember her at the finish line cheering my son with me as he crossed the finish line at a Mendon ponds trail run. Only time will dry our tears and help us heal as a community. Her memory however will live on as her students become their very best as she encouraged them to do every day by example. I am sure she would want us to smile when we remember her.

Jill got married the day of Madeline's funeral. Together teachers help parents build a child's positive future. Jill was a great example of a teacher who did this. Jill's dedication to her job and students was seen every day in her students, In her memory we will all do our very best to continue to work hard and be successful just as she taught her students every day. I'll never forget the day Jill waited to cheer my son on as he finished a race. Staying positive and never giving up! Although she is not with us, her memory always will be.
