Charlotte was one of a kind...a truly special person. I had the pleasure of getting to know her during my many years working at a high end clothing boutique. She always came in with a smile on her face...I can still hear her adorable little laugh. She bought me a beautiful rose bush when my husband and I bought our first house...it bloomed and flourished for many years...I would always think of her when I looked at it. It was very special to me...I took it with us to our new home. This spring is the first time that it seems to be sickly? i immediately thought of Charlotte and went to reach out to her on FaceBook...to only find out that she was not longer on it...i then found out the sad news of her passing. I wish I could have been there to celebrate her beautiful life and hope that she will always know how very special she was to me. I'm hoping that our rose bush will begin to flourish again soon.

Charlotte was a wonderful friend, neighbor, and as Dr. Marks mentioned in his entry, a surrogate mother while I stayed at the apartment on East Ave. I happened to be walking along East Ave with my parents as I was looking for an apartment before I moved to Rochester for my residency. As it turned out, I met the couple in the apartment, and they were getting ready to move on after finishing their training at the U of R. As I was conversing with the young mother and playing with her baby, Charlotte came out to join us in conversation, and well, as they say, the rest is history. I spent a wonderful three years there, and developed a wonderful friendship with her that lasted for several years after. I was dismayed to only find out about her passing with a returned Christmas card, as I was looking forward to hearing about her recent adventures in life and with KeeLee darling. I feel so blessed to have known such a cheerful and compassionate soul. I will truly miss her.

She was our realtor who found us our apartment on Alexander St when my roomates and I were in medical school at U of R in 1969. She became our de facto "mother" and looked over us, fed us, and made sure we 4 guys were ok. I stayed in touch with her until last year and just learned now of her passing when my Christmas card was returned. I will miss her very much. She was a very sweet person

I am so sorry to hear of Charlotte's passing over the weekend. And even more sorry that I missed her services. I lived right underneath Charlotte's apartment on East Ave for six years. She was such a warm and kind soul, with an amazing sense of humor.
When I was moving to Rochester in 2002, I had pulled over on Buckingham looking at apartment listings. This wonderful woman taps on my window asking me if I was looking for an apartment. She had one that she hadn't listed yet. The rest is history.
Charlotte, you were so good to me and I will always be thankful for that!

I helped Charlotte over the years at a small boutique I work at. Every weekend she would come in with a skirt or top looking to match it with something. She always bought a little something, I believe it was her outing for the day! She always came in with a smile on and always made my day when I saw her walking in! She was such a sweet and classy women. When a few weekends went by with out her in the store I knew something must have been up. I looked online but never found anything. Im so sorry I missed her funeral. RIP Charlotte you are missed by so many! xo

I just wanted to let Charlotte's family know how blessed I was to have her sitting in the pew right behind me for years and years. What a classy, cheerful, sincere lady. Judy McGrath, Treas., St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Charlotte was a woman of great kindness and inimitable style. I first met her when I worked for interior designer Arthur Vitoch. She used to stop into the showroom and leave with a bundle of beautiful things. Later, after I became a realtor we traded war stories. She used to write me encouraging little notes when she'd see I'd gotten a listing in the neighborhood. I loved running into her around Park Áve. where she was a visable presence either walking her dog or tooling around in her BMW convertible. She was a sharp wit and always had a kind word. We always laughed together. When the seasons changed I looked forward to seeing what interesting arrangement she'd have commissioned Charles Arena to decorate the beautiful front doors of her East Áve. house. It would always be something unique and interesting just like the lady of the house. Recently I'd noticed vandals had toppled a large sculpture in her garden and I meant to call and commiserate. I'm very sorry I never did.
